Anne Schober

Anne Schober was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and spent her early years moving throughout the South and Midwestbefore settling in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, at the age of thirteen. She earned an Associate’s degree in Medical Assistingfrom Gannon University in 1983 and later obtained a Bachelor of Science in English Education from Millersville University in 2001.

Anne’s teaching career spans both public and private education. After spending three years in public schools, she dedicated twelve years to Lancaster Catholic High School, where she served as English Department Chairperson. In 2007, she was selected from over 10,000 applicants to train with Erin Gruwell and the Freedom Writers Foundation, becoming one of just 400 certified Freedom Writer teachers worldwide.

Beyond the classroom, Anne has spent the past eight years as an adjunct at the Pennsylvania Writing Institute at Millersville University. In 2010, she became a published author with Teaching Hope, a compilation of classroom stories co-authored by Freedom Writer teachers, including Erin Gruwell.

Today, Anne travels across the United States, passionately advocating for the power of student-teacher connections. She believes that fostering these relationships unlocks students’ true potential—leading to transformative, life-changing moments in the classroom.
